Name: Thor: The
Dark World

Synopsis: Long time
ago, Bor father of Odin clashed with Dark Elf Malekith, who wants to destroy a
weapon called Aether. When Bor conquered Malekith’s forces which include
warriors called Kursed on their own homeland called Svartalfhiem, he safeguards
the Aether within a stone column. Without the knowledge of him, Malekeith and a
handful of dark elves escaped into suspended animation. Even today, Asgard and
Loki are imprisoned for their war crimes on Earth. Thor with other warriors Fandral,
Volstagg and Sif fights marauders on Vanaheim, home of one of their comrade
Hogun. It is the final battle in a war to bring peace in Nine Realms with the
constructive of the Bifrost, the “Rainbow Bridge” between the Realms which was
earlier destroyed. Dr. Jane Foster an intern Astrophysicist was taken to an
abandoned factory by Darcy Lewis where objects were started disappearing in the
thin air, disobeying the law of Physics. Jane was somehow teleported to another
world where she is infected by Aether. Asgardinas came to know that the
Convergence, a rare alignment of Nine Realms is important as the event
approaches where portals linking to worlds appear at random. Thor was alerted
about Jane’s disappearance by Heimdall. Thor goes for her search, found her and
takes her to Asgard. Asgard healers said
that they don’t know how to treat her. Odin, recognizes the Aether and warns
Jane that this infection will kill her Aether’s return will bring a
catastrophic prophecy. Malekeith awakened from Aether’s presence. He turned
Algrim into a Kursed warrior and attacked Asgard. During the fight both Malekeith
and Algrim search for Jane but couldn’t find her so they escaped but during
that they killed Thor’s mother Frigga. Thor teams up the Loki who knows the
secret portal to Malekeith’s world where they can lure Malekieth with the use
of Jane as bait. With a little assistance from Volstagg, Sif and Fandral, Thor
and Loki takes a dark Elves ship and went to Svartalfheim with Jane. When they
were on Svartalfheim Loki lures malekeith to take out Aether from Jane Thor
attempts to destroy Aether but failed leading Malekeith to be empowered with
Aether. Malekeith leaves but Loki was fatally wounded when in protecting Thor
from Algrim. Loki died. Thor and Jane discovered another portal in a nearby
cave and reunite with Dr. Erik Selvig, Darcy in London. There they came to know
that Malekeith wants to destroy universe using Aether and he will use this in Greenwich
which is the centre of the Convergence. Thor fights with Malekeith but a portal
separates them. Thor comes to his mortal comrades and seeks to use scientific equipment
to transport Malekeith back to Svartalfheim where he is killed before
destroying the universe. Thor returns to Asgard. He declines Odin offer to take
the throne and tell the Odin was Loki was sacrificed himself. As Thor leaves,
Odin transform into a grinning Loki. When Credit scenes were on, Volstagg and Sif
visit the collector and entrusted him with Aether. He said that as Tesseract
already in Asgard, having 2 such stones together can be dangerous. As they
left, collector said “One down, five to go.” During the teaser in the last, a
frost monster accidently transported to earth was uncontrollable and running
wild, as Thor and Kane was reunited in London.
Review: The movie is full of action. A charismatic performance of Hemsworth and Hiddleston.
Natalie Portman performance was also up to the expectations. The movie has
plenty of humor in it and at sometime you may feel that's a little too much. Visual
effects of the movie are above average. One of the drawbacks is that the story
of movie is same like old ones, villain tries to destroy whole world, and hero
saves the universe with a little sacrifice. Overall, a good movie to watch which
is full of action and with some amount of humor in it.
